4-H Educational Experiences

Waupaca County 4-H offers many opportunities for youth in grades 6 and above to participate in a variety of educational travel experiences. Applications for these trips are due the first of January.

Citizenship Washington Focus (CWF)

Information just came out about the Citizenship Washington Focus-Presidential Inauguration (CWF PI). See below and attached if you are interested. The Waupaca County 4-H Leaders’ Board voted to provide up to 2 scholarships for this experience, each 50% of the cost up to $500.00. If you are interested in this experience, we encourage you to apply. We will have a local process to select scholarship recipients prior to the cancellation deadline for the experience if needed after state selection. CWF PI Registration & Application Process – OPEN

I hope this e-mail finds you doing well and easing into a warm and wonderful summer!!  This spring has definitely been one we will all remember and learn from.  It has not been easy and I trust and believe we will continue to learn and grow as 4-H members and leaders.  Our ability to adapt and make the most of difficult situations are valuable life lessons that will help us well into the future.

Today’s e-mail includes information about Citizenship Washington Focus PI (January 17-21, 2021.)  Registration is OPEN today and will remain OPEN through June 30.  See below for program and registration information.

Our nation is in the midst of an election year and YOU have the opportunity to engage and learn more about the election process, the Executive Branch and the Office of Presidency. Participating in CWF-PI will not only provide YOU with the unique and special opportunity to participate in the 2021 Inauguration, but it will also involve a comprehensive civic leadership experience in the months leading up to the Election and Inauguration.

If you are interested in further developing your leadership skills and becoming more civically engaged, take time to apply TODAY for the 2021 Citizenship Washington Focus Presidential Inauguration (CWF-PI) Program. CWF-PI is limited to 54 youth participants grades 9-12 (Fall 2020) and participation will be based on the completed application and state-wide representation.

The application process is a two-step process, interested youth leaders must complete the Google Form Application, which includes creating a short 2-3 minute video on why they are interested in participating in CWF-PI and what skills and experiences they will bring to the experience. Two completed recommendation forms are required. One from a teacher, 4-H Leader, or other community member; and one Reference Form from a 4-H Educator or Community Youth Development Educator.   1. Apply for CWF-PI in the Google Form (https://forms.gle/gznZv9En8kwe1mVYA) Applications are open today, June 16, and are due on June 30. Applications will be reviewed by Extension Staff, History Teachers/Community Volunteers and previous participants after June 30. Participants will be notified of the status of their application by August 1.
  2. National Code of Conduct and Media Release Forms will be mailed to you by August 1 with a confirmation letter. Selected applicants will need to return signed forms postmarked no later than Saturday, August 15, 2020 to the State 4-H Youth Development Office.  Your prompt response is required to ensure your participation.

Please know that we have been hesitant and have held off on promoting and opening registration because we want to be sensitive to the uncertainty we are facing.  We want to acknowledge that there are many factors that impact travel, especially in the context of large groups.  The future of the COVID-19 Pandemic is uncertain and there are many cultural, economic, and political factors in flux.  Your health is always our top priority and our staff will always consider all of these influences when planning.  We will promptly communicate with participants regarding any program changes, adaptations, and/or cancellations.
