Community Development

University of Wisconsin-Extension educational programs in Community, Natural Resource and Economic Development (CNRED) help Wisconsin communities identify possibilities and reach their potential. The most recent areas of focus in Waupaca County have been centered on:

  • Comprehensive planning initiatives
  • Economic development including downtown development and entrepreneurship
  • Community decision-making
  • Leadership development including Generations in the Workplace

Backed by University of Wisconsin research, CNRED educators work with local governments, civic organizations, businesses and community leaders to help people identify critical local concerns, set goals and work on solutions.

Our mission is to strengthen people’s ability to identify and solve community problems through education, citizen participation, group process, and unbiased information – allowing residents to make informed decisions, resulting in better communities.
